We decided on the most part not to make Ella’s photos public, since there are a lot of weirdos out there and we wanted to be a bit restrictive about posting photos of her online. I have a photo album of her set up on Flickr, which only contacts I have approved as friends and family can access. However, I am too proud a mummy not to show her off a little. So here are a select few pictures of my beautiful baby girl:

On Tuesday the 18th of May, 2010, my beautiful baby girl, Ella Sofia, made her entrance into the world. I have been too busy staring adoringly at her to post until now, and am just taking a moment to make this announcement before getting back to the serious business of cooing at my baby girl. Site hacked

Thanks to alert reader Julie, I was informed yesterday that my blog had been hacked. I have completely cleaned and reinstalled everything, and as far as I know it’s all fine again now. But if you have recently visited the site and gotten a warning from your virus software, make sure you run a full scan to make sure you weren’t attacked.

If you have a WordPress site, I would strongly suggest you check it for signs of hacking and change your admin password.

Damn hackers.

Happy 30th birthday Nessy!

I got to be the first to give Nessy a 30th birthday present, since I was in Australia two months before her birthday. And here it is:

Doesn’t she look fabulous?! We went to the hairdresser together and got our hair coloured. Now she’s blonde, but we always knew she was gorgeous. Love you, baby sister. xo

I still call Australia home

Tomorrow I leave for a month in Australia, so even though I’m taking my laptop with me, posts on this blog will probably going to be pretty thin on the ground in September.

The main reason for the trip is to welcome two new additions to the family; the first of my immediate family’s next generation. My sister had her son a week ago today, and my sister-in-law is due any day now.

I don’t think I mentioned that I got a new job that I will be starting in October. I will be a Project Manager for Opera Software, which is SUPER COOL. I’ve been trying to get in there since I moved to Norway over two years ago, so it’s massive.

So this will be the last chance to visit Australia for a while, given that you usually don’t get holidays in your first year in a job here. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again, and I’m already making a list of all the things I must eat and drink while I’m there. I’m packing light so that I can take advantage of the recent Aussie dollar slip against the Norwegian kroner.

Another leap forward for human rights

Today a new bill was passed in Norwegian Parliament allowing gay couples to marry. Hooray! Norway is the sixth country in the world to legalise gay marriage. Previously Norway allowed same-sex couples to become legally registered partners, allowing them many of the same protections as married couples. However, the new law will give gay couples equal standing in applications for child adoption, and will allow lesbian couples to both be listed on birth certificates as parents from the start of their child’s life.

Norway joins Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Africa and Canada in granting gay people full marriage rights.

Another upgrade to the site

Today I decided to ditch Serendipity as a blog engine and change over to WordPress. I decided that being different wasn’t worth all the pain. Luckily, I managed to get all the old posts over without too much trauma, so don’t worry that you hadn’t finished reading them.

I’ll ask you all to bear with me while I get things working properly and add features and so on. It should pretty much work the same way the old one did, but it will be a lot easier for me to work on. Who knows, I might even post more often.
