The cocktail party

March 26th, 2007 by Zoë

I had my 30th birthday party on the weekend, and now that the hangover has subsided I’m ready to share some highlights with you all. Here’s a bit of a montage I put together of the night:

And for those of you who are wondering, yes that was the Chicken Dance. One of the many lame group dances included on my playlist that were supposed to get people up and dancing. It didn’t really work, but Theresia and I provided entertainment for the couch potatoes anyway. It was such a great night, and it was even better for the fact that I had two of my best friends there; Nat and Theresia. Most of my Norwegian class were there, along with a load of friends I’ve made through Chris.

I hand selected 5 hours worth of party music which had a few of us dancing almost all night. My feet are still a bit sore. Also somehow I’ve ended up with at least seven bruises and I’m damned if I can remember how I got them.

Chris and Nils made most of the cocktails, and everyone agrees they did a fantastic job. We had mojitos, spiced caprinias, cosmopolitans, gin and tonic, strawberry dacquiris and some blue thing that was a bit like an alcoholic slush puppy with a cherry in it.

Chris’s mum made me a fantastic strawberry and cream spongecake which disappeared in about five seconds flat. I was told that in Norway there is a superstition which says if your slice of cake falls over before you eat a bit, you’ll never get married. So you can imagine how loud I screamed when someone bumped into me before my first bite. But I kept the little sucker upright anyway, so now they tell me it’s not that I definitely will get married, it’s just that I’m “not not getting married”. Glad we cleared that up.

Nat did Australia proud and drank everyone at the party to a standstill. She wasn’t too happy yesterday, but someone had to show those Weegies a thing or two about Aussie girls.

Nat flew back to London today and Theresia is heading back to Germany tomorrow. Tonight we’re heading out to dinner at Catalin and Medwin’s house. I hope Medwin is making his famous Korean fried chicken and home made spring rolls. Mmm so tasty!

I’ll tell you more as I remember it, but in the meantime, head over to the photo gallery and check out the rest of the photos.

Ooh! And thanks to everyone who sent cards and emails and so on. I’ll email you all soon, I promise!

Mwaa!
