First day at work

June 4th, 2007 by Zoë

Home again after my first work day in over ten months. I’m completely brain-fried, but feeling good anyway. The fact that we’ve had two actual warm days in a row contributes to my overall sense of wellbeing.

But what a great company to work for! Not only do they send me home with a welcome bottle of wine on my first day, but they also provide all their staff with free food and drink throughout the day! I was convinced that this canteen I’d heard so much about was something you had to pay for. But at lunchtime today the rumours proved true.

And it’s not just crappy normal canteen food either; it’s a whole salad bar with rolls and breads of all kinds, and lots of different sandwich toppings. We also have access to free hot and cold drinks, including mineral water and other carbonated beverages. So cool.

I can’t say much about the actual work yet, because this week will be spent learning about the software before I start testing it. But so far so good. Let’s see how I feel at the end of a full week, including two nights with Norwegian lessons!
